Spider Therapy is an intensive physiotherapy treatment originally developed in Poland. This unique approach involves suspending the child or adult in the centre of a universal exercise unit by using a number of elastic bungee cords of different elasticity.
These bungee cords are attached to specific points on a special belt around the waist of the patient, forming a unique ‘spiders web’ which provides essential suppport.
This unique form of suspension allows the patient to move freely and independently while controlling their movement with greater precision and ease.
Spider therapy is recommended for children and adults with cerebral palsy , rehabilitation after suffering a stroke , apraxia (motor planning difficulties), alaxia (coordination difficulties) , hypotonia (decreased muscle tone), dystonia (fluctuating muscle tone) , poor postural alignment and more.
There are a number of organisations around the world which specialise in this unique therapy.
